Volunteers needed to guide Alzheimer’s Walk in Prince Albert

Feb 3, 2024 | 8:00 AM

A spokesperson for the Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan said they are raising this bar this year for Prince Albert.

Amanda Baker is referring to their annual fundraising walk in May and the fact the Malcolm Jenkins Family Foundation has agreed to match donations up to $25,000.

“So we have big goals in Prince Albert,” she said.

As of Friday the local organizing committee only had two people and Baker would like to at least double that number.

“Once we get our committee set up correctly, then we are gonna be set up for success,” she said.

Baker explained the committee’s responsibilities include recruitment of volunteers for the actual event day, as well as finding sponsors, and just engaging with the local community.

The deadline to have the organizing committee in place is Feb. 9 and they will then be subjected to a provincial orientation.

Anyone interested can contact the Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan through their website or by phone at 1-800-263-3367

The event will take place on Saturday, May 25 and the registration is expected to start on March 1. More details about the event will be released at that time.

Last year, over two dozen people gathered at Prince Albert’s Kinsmen Park and raised over $25,000 for the cause.
