Inmate’s death confirmed at Saskatchewan Penitentiary

An inmate has died while serving his sentence at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary near Prince Albert.

Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) confirmed in a release that Rocky Meechance, died while in custody on Monday.

Meechance was serving a sentence of two years, 11 months, and 18 days for several charges including flight from a peace officer, breaking and entering, and operating a vehicle while prohibited.

The inmate’s relatives have been notified of his passing.

The cause of death has not been released the CSC will now review the circumstances and notify local police and the coroner.
