Construction on the Aquatic and Arenas Recreation Project is halfway done, according to the City of Prince Albert.

The project broke ground in July of 2022 and the majority of the project is scheduled to be finished by the end of 2024.

Prince Albert Mayor Greg Dionne toured the facility earlier this month.

“The construction of a facility this size is a substantial undertaking,” Dionne said in a release. “You can see the level of precision that goes into a build like this when touring the facility.”

The new facility will include a 51,500 square foot aquatics area featuring multiple pools and two water slides. The building will also feature two NHL-sized rinks with expanded seating.

The project is being funded by both the federal and provincial governments. The total cost of the building is expected to be over $100 million.
