Albertville Christmas concert raises over $11,000 for Rose Garden Hospice

Prince Albert’s Rose Garden Hospice has unwrapped a wonderful Christmas gift.

The Trudel family concert, held on Dec. 16 in Albertville, raised $11,450. Marina Mitchell, a spokesperson for the Rose Garden Hospice, told paNOW the board is beyond thrilled to see that much money raised.

“The community members who attended the event really opened their hearts and their wallets. We are truly grateful,” she said.

Located in the southwest corner of the city, the hospice project began in 2008 and broke ground in 2021 with a $4 million price tag, most of which came from community fundraisers. The hospice was fully built by the community and the grand opening celebration was held last August.

Mitchell explained the recent donation will be spent on items such as nine lift chairs, five air mattresses for the beds, staff recovery furniture and quiet room furniture.

The concert, which also included others performers such as the Albertville Angels Choir, was held at St. James Parish. There was no cost to attend, however guests were encouraged to make a donation to the hospice. According to a social media post by the Trudel family, the event served as a good reminder of how important community is.

“From Spiritwood to Melfort and all the other places in between we welcomed the most wonderful audience into St. James Parish, we hope that you felt at home with us,” they said.

The family went on to explain the community’s generosity was more than they they could have dreamed, and were proud to help make peoples’ stay at the hospice more comfortable.

Due to COVID, December’s event marked the first concert since 2019. Shows held in the past have supported other causes including a defibrillator for the local community and a tractor in a developing country.
