Prince Albert’s Carl Klarenbach is helping spread some holiday cheer for all the dogs and cats spending Christmas at the community’s SPCA.

On Monday, approximately $5,000 worth of food was dropped off at the building, courtesy of staff from Pet Planet. Carl’s son Curtis told paNOW the cause is very personal for his parents.

“They were always donating whatever they could, whether it was money or product,” he said.

Curtis explained his dad was most recently very moved by a news article that cited a need for food at the SPCA and so the family took action.

“It was just something we talked about as his kids, so it was in dad’s name and mom’s memory,” Curtis said.

SPCA Assistant Manager Victoria McRae was touched by the donation.

“We appreciate it so much and it just kinda helps us throughout the winter and through Christmas season,” she said, adding the food should last a few months. “It will definitely help us out quite a bit.”

Several members of the Klarenbach family were at the SPCA on Monday for the donation and were provided a tour of the facility.

As they walked down the hall, and past the individual housing rooms, every dog jumped up to the window, as if to say thank you.
