Several Prince Albert and area organizations are among the over 100 receiving money in the latest round of grant funding from the Community Initiative Funds (CIF).

About 150 grants were announced on Tuesday totalling almost $2.5 million in 58 communities including Prince Albert, Big River, Spiritwood, and Birch Hills.

A total of seven grants have been approved in Prince Albert. It includes $20,000 for the Life Improvement Program at Catholic Family Services, $30,000 for the Community Arts Program through the City of Prince Albert, and $30,000 for the Northern Languages Program through Common Weal Community Arts.

Meanwhile, Birch Hills Public School will receive $12,000 for its Nutrition Program, $1,150 for the February Break Program in Spiritwood, and just over $13,000 will go towards the Town of Big River’s Adult Activity Program.

“The programs and initiatives funded by CIF have a profound impact on the well-being of communities across Saskatchewan,” Community Initiatives Fund Executive Director Tracey Mann said. “We are continually amazed by the dedication and creativity of community leaders and organizations that work so tirelessly to enrich our province.”

“By connecting individuals, families and communities with vital programming across the province, the Community Initiatives Fund enhances the quality of life for people in Saskatchewan,” added Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Laura Ross.

The CIF is a Special Purpose Fund created through The Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan Corporation Act and managed by a government-appointed Board of Community Volunteers.
