Mintos drop home-and-home weekend with Warman

The Prince Albert Mintos dropped both of their games this past weekend, either coming at the hands of the Warman Wildcats.

The home-and-home series started on Saturday afternoon at the Art Hauser Centre and saw the Mintos get shutout 1-0. Beckett Hamilton had the lone marker for the Wildcats while Corben Schnurr made 25 stops in goal en route to his seventh win of the season. Brady Holtvogt was in goal for P.A. and managed 29 stops.

In game two on Sunday afternoon, the Wildcats completed the weekend sweep on home ice inside the Warman Home Centre Communiplex.

Trey Markus opened the scoring early in the first for the home team before Kale Margolis answered back for the Mintos on the man advantage.

The floodgates opened in the middle frame however, mostly for the Wildcats. Liam Bursaw scored to reestablish the one goal Warman lead while P.A.’s Will Whitter had a quick reply to knot the game back up at two.

In the back half of the period, Dylan Danyluk, Jack Janzen, and Cohen Klassen scored for the Wildcats to head into the third with a commanding 5-2 lead. Janzen went on to add another in the final frame for his second of the night as Warman took down the Mintos 6-2.

The pair of losses kicks Prince Albert into a three way tie for third place in the standings with a 15-8-2 record.

Prince Albert will look to get back into the win column on Wednesday night in Tisdale against the Trojans before the club heads west to Calgary to play in the prestigious Circle K Classic.
