P.A. police looking into counterfeit money being used in community

Dec 14, 2023 | 4:00 PM

Counterfeit money is being used in Prince Albert.

That’s according to P.A. police who first received a report of fake cash on Nov. 7, 2023. Since then, there have been several other incidents involving fake $20, $50, and $100 bills.

According to police, they’ve been used at various businesses, fast-food outlets, and in shopping centres.

The bills use one of two different serial numbers: DB66688803 and LGQ03229158.

There are other ways to check if a bill is a counterfeit. This includes it not being smooth to the touch and having no raised ink.

If you are given counterfeit money, police say accept it so you don’t put yourself at risk and then contact them immediately. It’s important to also try and remember any details of the person you got it from.

P.A. police can be contacted at 306-953-4222, while those who want to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
