Province requests bids for child, youth mental health group homes, with one based in P.A.
The province is looking for prospective proposals to develop and operate two new group homes to aid children and youth living with mental health and/or addictions. One of those homes is slated to be created in Prince Albert, with the other in Regina.
Each home will provide five spaces for children and youth, for a total of 10 spaces in the province.
“Connecting children and youth to timely, accessible mental health services is such an important step in addressing mental health and addictions challenges,” Social Services Minister Gene Makowsky said. “We are seeing more children and youth who may require specialized resources to meet their individual needs, beyond what their families or an extended family or foster home placement can give. These new group home spaces will provide these children and youth with safety, security and quality care.”
The plan will focus on providing children and youth aged 12-18 with a home-like environment with services that would be immediately available for individual needs. The support would be available 24 hours a day.
