There will soon be more housing options in Prince Albert.

P.G. Broad Investment is currently building two apartment buildings near the Victoria Hospital with plans on constructing a third.

Owner Gary Brar told paNOW they will welcome their first guests sometime in the new year.

“We’ll definitely have a couple of the buildings (open) for sure, maybe the third one,” he said.

The two buildings will have 116 units. This includes single-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom apartments. Once the third apartment is finished, the entire complex will feature 174 units.

To make sure they can open as soon as possible, the plan is to work over the winter.

“We don’t have temporary heat in place yet, SaskEnergy is a little bit behind but hopefully it works out,” added Brar.

P.G. Broad Investment decided to make the buildings while constructing the recently opened Holiday Inn. This is because they had a tough time finding housing for their workers.

Brar noted when they brought the idea up with the city, they were more than happy to help make the buildings a reality.

“They welcomed us and have worked with us,” added Brar.

In total, the company is investing $50 million into the apartments. They also spent $20 million to get the Holiday Inn up and running.
