Featuring fighters from all over Saskatchewan and Manitoba, the third annual Rumble in Regina event took place last Saturday, and Prince Albert was well represented.

The Red Wolf Boxing Club was included in four of the 15 bouts.

Evander Masuskapoe faced Regina’s Charlie Ibachache (Lonsdale boxing club) and won by decision. He told paNOW he went in with a strategy.

“It was to keep my hands up and use my jab and to go to the body which was kinda hard cause he was moving a lot, but overall, it’s the best shape I ever have been in and I am gonna be dropping weight to 165 eventually,” he said.

Devon Masuskapoe faced Winnipeg’s Wren Peters (Power Boxing club) and won by ref stoppage in the third round.

“I thought I could have done better as I only had two days to prepare for this fight. My only strategy was to tire him out and taking the fight to him,” Devon explained.

In the 61kg, weight class, Cruze Watier faced Bronson Nabess (Winnipeg) and won by stoppage in the second round.

“I had a good feeling I would get the job done before the fight, Cole Ahenakew and I have been putting in hard work in together, we always compete with each other, and that is what makes me and Cole level up,” Watier said.

He added he has also been sparring with pro boxer Stuart Tuardzik. With the win, Watier’s amateur record improved to 4-0.

In the main event, Cole Ahenakew lost in a tough battle to Winnipeg’s Ethan Ruttle.
