Northern Bears lose in OT against Hounds
Prince Albert’s Sasha Malenfant played the role of overtime hero for Notre Dame on Sunday afternoon, helping the Hounds down the Mann-Northway Northern Bears 5-4 in double overtime.
The game-winning goal was the fourth point in the game for the former Northern Bear as she also tacked on three assists in her return to the Art Hauser Centre.
In the team’s first home game since Oct. 26, the Bears were trailing by two with less than three minutes to go and managed to claw their way back with goals from Bree Purcell and Tristyn Endicott to force overtime. Young was proud of his team for the no-quit effort they presented when their backs were against the wall.
“We could’ve easily said ‘Okay another loss, here we go’ but [we were in it] right until the end,” he said. “To get those two goals was crucial for us and unfortunately worked out the way it worked out.”
