The Brandon Wheat Kings prevailed at the Art Hauser Centre on Sunday night, downing the Prince Albert Raiders 3-1.

The defeat is the second in as many days for the club as the Raiders were dealt a 6-3 loss at the hands of the Moose Jaw Warriors on Saturday.

Carrot River’s Jayden Wiens earned first star honours in the contest, lighting the lamp twice while Nolan Flamand took the second star with a pair of assists. Dominik Petr was the other goal scorer for the Wheat Kings while Charlie Elick, Caleb Hadland, Matteo Michels, and Kayden Sadhra-Kang also potted a helper.

For the Raiders, Niall Crocker scored the lone marker while Hayden Pakkala and Sloan Stanick both collected assists.

Ethan Eskit got the nod for Brandon in net and made 25 saves to help the Wheaties improve to 11-11-4-1 on the year.

Chase Coward was in goal for Prince Albert and managed 28 saves as the Raiders fell to 13-12-0-2 on the campaign.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE

Following a scoreless opening twenty minutes, the Wheat Kings found themselves ahead by two after the second period. Wiens broke the ice just three minutes into the second period before scoring his second of the night with three minutes to go in the middle frame.

The Raiders would finally see the lamp light in their favour in the third period. Stanick stripped McQueen of the puck in the offensive zone and Pakkala scooped up the loose biscuit, giving a feed to Crocker crashing the net. The puck bounced off his skate and into the net, leading to his eighth marker of the season.

Brandon answered right back less than two minutes later on an opposing rush. Michels shot was initially stopped, but Petr was there to put home the rebound to restore the two-goal lead.

The Raiders would pull Coward in the third but couldn’t convert with the extra attacker as the Wheat Kings took it 3-1.

Prince Albert is back on the road for their next few contests as the team will embark on a three-in-three weekend. The Raiders will begin the trip on Friday night in Swift Current.
