Care home permit in East Flat approved

Oct 17, 2023 | 1:00 PM

Prince Albert City Council unanimously approved a development permit for a care home in the East Flat.

Two of the area’s residents had written letters of opposition but withdrew them after learning more about what is planned.

The applicant, Insight Therapy Ltd, says they have taken steps to address any concerns the neighbourhood might have.

“We are committed to close collaboration with both the local community and the tenants to ensure that the residence becomes a positive addition to the neighborhood and does not disrupt the existing fabric of the community,” they said in a written submission with their permit application.

The care home will provide 24-hour care for up to six children under age 10. The property has been securely fenced and professional staff will be on location at all times.

According to council’s agenda package, the home is planned to be an emergency placement home for the Montreal Lake Child and Family Agency.
