Two Saskatchewan crop commissions are still looking for producer feedback on their proposed merger.

Earlier this year, Sask Canola and Sask Flax announced they were considering amalgamation.

The proposed deal would see SaskCanola assume the operations for SaskFlax which would include everything from research and advocacy to market development investments and communications.

SaskCanola has been providing operational support for SaskFlax since early January when resolutions were passed at both AGMs calling on the two groups to investigate amalgamation.

The survey will remain open until Nov. 17 with the results being shared during their annual meetings in January.

CNH Industrial has completed its purchase of the global satellite navigation technology company Hemisphere GNSS (Hemisphere).

The deal, worth USD $175 million, was announced on Mar. 30. It includes Hemisphere’s subsidiary Outback Guidance, which sells agricultural autosteer products in North America and Australia.

CNH Chief Digital & Information Officer Marc Kermisch said bringing Hemisphere’s talent and resources into CNH reflects the energy and momentum of investments in tech innovation.

“From 2024 onwards, we will bring notable value to customers through significant advancements in our journey from automating certain tasks to fully autonomous operation,” Kermisch said.

Dairy Farmers of Canada (DFC) received an award at the World Dairy Summit in Chicago, Illinois.

DFC’s “Net Zero by 2050 – We’re In” campaign won in the Innovation in Marketing & Communication Initiative Building Dairy category. Also, DFC’s digital “cow influencer,” Daisy, and her Mini-Games were recognized as a finalist in the same category.

DFC President David Wiens said the honours received shine a spotlight on the Canadian dairy industry by recognizing its continuous innovation, both on and off the farm.

“These campaigns highlight the commitment and advances our sector is making towards net zero and we are proud to share real farmer success stories with our fellow Canadians,” Wiens said.

Last year, DFC committed to reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Lactanet and Semex won in the Innovation in Climate Action category for developing the world’s first official genetic evaluation to decrease methane emissions in dairy cattle.
