Raiders cap busy weekend with shootout loss to Blades

Oct 15, 2023 | 9:55 PM

The Prince Albert Raiders fell in a shootout Sunday night to the rival Saskatoon Blades in another gutsy performance that saw the Raiders earn a single point at the tail end of a three-in-three stretch this weekend.

Trailing 2-1 in the third period, Raiders forward Sloan Stanick tied the game at 2-2 to force overtime at the Art Hauser Centre. After a scoreless OT session, the Raiders had a chance to preserve the win in a shootout, but Stanick was stopped by Blades goaltender Austin Elliott before Saskatoon captain Trevor Wong scored to extend the shootout. Easton Armstrong eventually scored the shootout winner for Saskatoon in the fifth round.

The Raiders had their win streak snapped at four games but they still picked up five of a possible six points this weekend and now sit with a record of 6-3-0-1.

The Blades have now won five straight games.
