Raiders host Hitmen to kick off busy weekend

Oct 13, 2023 | 6:00 AM

Fresh off a pair of wins in Alberta, the Prince Albert Raiders (4-3) get set to host the Calgary Hitmen (2-5) Friday night at the Art Hauser Centre.

It’s the start of a busy stretch for the green and gold, who will play three games in three nights this weekend. They’ll also travel to Moose Jaw on Saturday before returning home to host the rival Saskatoon Blades on Sunday.

Friday will mark the first meeting of the year between the Raiders and Hitmen.

Who to Watch

Raiders import forward Krzysztof Macias appears to be getting more and more confident with every game he plays. The 19-year-old had a hat trick in last Friday’s win over Red Deer and is second on the team in scoring with six points in eight games. Expect him to be a key contributor in the games this weekend.

Raiders goaltender Max Hildebrand has been among the league’s top goaltenders this season. The Martensville, Sask native has a sparkling 1.76 goals against average to go along with a .947 save percentage. Hildebrand won both games in Alberta last weekend and there’s a good chance he’ll start again on Friday against Calgary.

The Raiders acquired defenceman Jacob Hoffrogge from Edmonton last weekend. The former Oil King could make his Raider debut as early as Friday evening.

You can catch Friday’s game on 101.5 Beach Radio beginning with the pre-game show at 6:30 and puck drop at 7:00.
