A woman accused of impaired driving causing death and failure to stop after a collision resulting in death has been released from custody.

Brayanna McKenzie appeared Thursday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court, by way of video from the Pine Grove Correctional Centre.

The consent release by the Crown includes a number of conditions including an upfront payment of $150; a 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew; a driving prohibition; and assessment or programming for addictions.

McKenzie also cannot possess any alcohol or drugs, or be in a place where the sales of alcohol or cannabis are the primary purpose.

She is now scheduled to make her next court appearance on Oct. 18.

In the early morning hours of Sept. 9, Prince Albert police responded to the 800 block of 13th St. W.

That’s where 26-year-old Tyson McKenzie was found deceased.

McKenzie’s family members have previously confirmed she and the victim are cousins and claimed Tyson had been a part of a scuffle occurring outside.

They further described the incident as a complete accident adding McKenzie, who was 24 at the time of her arrest, and who only had her license for a few months, was actually attempting to stop and help her cousin.

According to Tyson’s obituary, he is survived by his daughter, son, and stepdaughter.
