Thanksgiving Food Drive brings in 1,000 lbs of food & over $2K for P.A. Food Bank

The Prince Albert Food Bank is calling this year’s Thanksgiving Food Drive a success.

Staff and volunteers braved the cold weather last Thursday in front of the city’s Walmart to collect donations.

In the end, they received just under 1,000 pounds of food and over $2,100 in cash.

“We had great support from the community again,” said Kim Scruby, executive director of the Food Bank.

Those totals were still down from what the non-profit was able to collect in food drives before the pandemic. Despite this, Scruby explained it should help them fill hampers until they hold their annual Christmas Food Drive.

“This is definitely going to help us until then,” he said.

The Christmas Food Drive is scheduled to happen on Nov. 30, 2023, at Save-On-Foods.

People who missed the Food Bank in front of Walmart but still want to donate can do so by visiting the non-profit’s website.

Meanwhile, those struggling to put food on their tables are also encouraged to reach out to the Food Bank for help.
