Woman charged after stand-off avoids trial with change of plea
A woman charged after a standoff in Prince Albert’s West Flat area, has changed her pleas and now awaits sentencing.
Angela Fay Ahenakew, who was released on bail last July, and was scheduled to face trial, appeared in person Tuesday at Prince Albert Provincial Court.
Guilty pleas were entered by her lawyer to roughly half a dozen charges including vehicle theft, stealing a wallet, using a stolen credit card at a local gas station, possession of a firearm (.22 calibre rifle) and failing to comply with a prior release condition that included an order she not possess any firearms.
A pre-sentence report, which will canvass Ahenakew’s personal background and ultimately assist the judge in making an appropriate sentence has been ordered. The case that dates back to Jan. 2, has been adjourned to Dec. 4.
