The old saying goes you can’t spell party without P-A, and the WHL’s loudest fans are busy warming up their pipes.

In the hours leading up to Friday night’s home opener, a massive tailgate party was held in the Art Hauser Centre parking lot. Chelsey Beres and her daughter were donning their favourite jerseys.

“We are excited for an action packed year and I think they’re going have a great go this year,” she said, adding the teams’ chemistry seems really good.

Andy Kozey and his wife have been Raiders fans for over 30 years and also think the team has a good chance this year.

“They’ve got the speed and they’ve got the attitude,” he said.

Ilona Marien and her daughter Jordana admitted they’ve been counting down the days until the season start, and also indicated plans to make a lot of noise.

“We’re about the only ones in our section that cheer,” Ilona laughed.

Raiders fans of all ages were seen having a good time and young Isis Madden was getting in the spirit.

“I like to watch it but Im not that big of a fan though,” she confessed. “I think they’re gonna do great and try their best.”
