Early Tuesday morning, at approximately 3a.m., members of the city’s police service observed a man operating a motorcycle in a dangerous manner in the 400 block of River Street East.

Attempts were made to stop the motorcycle, however, the driver disregarded and sped off.

In the 200 block of Macdowall Crescent the suspect abandoned the motorcycle and attempted to escape on foot. He was located a block away and arrested by patrol members, with the assistance of the Canine Unit.

In addition to Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance and Failure to Stop for Police, the man has also been charged with Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Resist Arrest, Mischief, Breach of Release Order, Breach of Probation, and Breach of Recognizance.

As a result of the Canine apprehension, the man sustained an injury. He was transported to the Victoria Hospital for treatment and later released into police custody.

The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) has been notified and are investigating the circumstances of the injury to the male.
