Meadow Lake Chamber of Commerce welcomes its new Administrator

Aug 24, 2023 | 5:16 PM

A familiar face is coming back to lead the Meadow Lake & District Chamber of Commerce.

The organization recently announced that Trevor Dignean is their new Administrator, having started the role earlier this month.

Dignean previously served as Administrator from 2019 to 2021, helping lead the Chamber in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said the idea of returning came up after a recent meeting with the Chamber President.

“I just wanted a change and I’ve seen that there was definitely a need back here, that it was vacant for the last nine months,” he said. “I knew it would be easier for me to kind of rebuild it than it would have been for someone coming in fresh.”

Dignean said there is a lot of excitement coming back to the Chamber but also plenty of challenges.

Aside from catching up on the mountains of paperwork and bills, Dinean said he also has to rebuild the membership.

“In that nine months, 90 per cent of the memberships have lapsed,” he said. “It’s kind of a rebuilding on that.”

The Meadow Lake Chamber is planning a series of different events to help grow the membership until its big event of the year at the end of September.

“Our biggest event that we have coming up is our Business Appreciation Evening and that’ll be Friday. September 29th at the Civic Centre,” he said.

Saskatchewan Country duo The Johner Brothers will be the entertainment for that event. Anyone interested in that evening or any other happenings in the Chamber can reach them on Facebook or at mlchamberofcommerce@sasktel.net.
