PAPS hosting STEP blitz in city and area
Some residents in the Prince Albert area may have noticed and increased police presence in the city on Wednesday.
That’s because the Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) is hosting a Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) blitz with officers from across the province participating in the two-day initiative.
Officers will be working alongside partner agencies to lookout for various traffic infractions, such as speeding, distracted driving, and seatbelt use. Police will also be keeping an eye out for unlicensed drivers and for proper vehicle standards. As always though, the top priority for officers is impaired driving.
STEP is a multi-agency task force dedicated to improving traffic safety across Saskatchewan. Members include municipal police agencies, the RCMP, Saskatchewan Highway Patrol, Canadian National and Canadian Pacific Police, and representatives from SGI and the Ministries of Justice and Finance.
