Caught between a camper and hard place: pickup in wrong lane closes bridge

Traffic heading northbound on the Diefenbaker Bridge is facing delays following a collision between a pickup going the wrong way and three other vehicles.

The red Dodge Ram was described by Deanna Johnson – who caught part of the incident as she was driving on the southbound lane – as hitting multiple vehicles before coming to a stop.

“What I saw was a person going southbound in the northbound lane, going quite fast in a truck,” she said.

Other witnesses have reported the red Dodge jumping over the concrete divider, which is several inches high.

Traffic is backed up onto the lane trying to head north on Highway 2.

The collision involves multiple vehicles, including a pickup pulling a camper, another pickup and a third pickup pulling a tilt trailer.

There was no word of injuries reported and southbound traffic was still flowing.
