A Prince Albert hockey player is set to represent Saskatchewan when she plays for Team Canada against the United States in a mini three-game series.

Stryker Zablocki is the only one from the province to make the National Women’s Under-18 Team. The 16-year-old is also one of five players born in 2007, while everyone was born in 2006.

She spent last season with the Regina Avana Rebels of the Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League. She ended up scoring 25 goals and adding 15 assists for 40 points in just 30 games.

In four games at selection camp, Zablocki scored two goals and added three assists for five points. This included a two-point game against Team Finland on Monday to officially wrap up the camp.

Zablocki was originally one of 71 players from across the country named to Hockey Canada’s selection camp.

“We have a very fast and skilled group,” said Head Coach Tara Watchorn. “We can play with creativity; we have firepower from the back end, and it will be a fun team to watch. You can see the difference in this group every day, and it’s important we continue with that growth mindset. Our goal is to get better every day.”

The three-game series is taking place in Lake Placid, New York from Aug. 16 – 19.

The first game takes place on Aug. 16 at 1 p.m. (CST). Game Two happens on Aug. 17 starting at 4 p.m. (CST), while Game Three is set for Aug. 19 at 1 p.m. (CST).
