Food Day set to be celebrated across Canada

Aug 3, 2023 | 3:09 PM

Farmers and ranchers across the country will be celebrated this weekend.

Sunday has been declared Food Day Canada where those who plant, harvest, and make our meals will be recognized.

This is the 20th edition of the day, marking one of the largest and longest-running celebrations of those who work in the food industry.

“Food Day Canada serves as a link that connects us all through the joy of food,” said David Marit, Saskatchewan’s Agriculture Minister. “We extend our recognition to all the hardworking and dedicated individuals who play a vital role in feeding the world. I encourage everyone to take a moment to share their personal food experiences and celebrate Canadian food.”

The Government of Saskatchewan also explained that Food Day is important, but they’re committed to building awareness of modern agriculture all year round. In a release, the province also highlighted the work being done by Agriculture in the Classroom, Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan, and 4-H Saskatchewan.

Meanwhile, people are encouraged to take to social media to recognize the day, dine at a local restaurant, or find other ways to thank all those who help put food on our tables.
