Saskatoon Police have arrested Colten Lafond, age 34, and charged him with the attempted murder of a 15-year-old girl in Saskatoon last November.

Lafond was arrested on July 12 at a correctional facility in Prince Albert where he was remanded on unrelated charges.

The charges stem from an incident in Saskatoon on November 18, 2022 when a 15-year-old girl was shot. She had been walking with her family around 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of 20th Street West and Avenue Q South.

The shots came from a white car that had multiple people inside. The victim was treated at hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Waylon Daniels, age 28, was previously charged in connection with the same incident.

Lafond and Daniels are both charged with aggravated assault, attempted murder, unlawful transport of a gun along with several other charges.

Lafond faces one more charge of having a gun while banned.

He will make his next appearance on the new charges in Saskatoon Provincial Court on August 10 for a bail hearing.

Daniels will also have a bail hearing in Saskatoon Provincial Court on August 3.

Lafond has outstanding matters in Prince Albert Provincial Court for multiple incidents such as a robbery and a standoff Muskoday in January 2023.

Daniels was also charged from that incident.

Lafond has another attempted murder charge following a different standoff on Branion Drive in Prince Albert on March 17, 2023.

He was sentenced in October 2022 to a one-year sentence for dangerous operation of a vehicle after fleeing from police, who were investigating a drug trafficking operation.

After time served before pleading guilty, he was released almost immediately.

RCMP issued a plea in mid-July for public help locating Daniels in connection with the Saskatoon shooting, and arrested him days later in Muskoday.

SPS says that with the charges laid against Lafond and Daniels, their investigation into the shooting has now concluded.
