The Prince Albert Royals gave it their all at the 18U baseball provincials this past weekend but fell short on championship Sunday.

The team had a strong outing in the round robin stages of the tournament, however, things started off slow. The Saskatoon Athletics were all gas and no breaks in the provincial opener, making quick work of P.A. winning 13-3 in five innings.

The next two games were a better story for the Royals as they defeated the Northeast Red Sox 9-6 later that same day, then they defeated the Lumsden Cubs 5-3 on Saturday afternoon. The two wins helped P.A. into the semifinals on Sunday morning where they finished the round robin at 2-1.

In the semis, the Royals squared off with the Regina White Sox where they found themselves at the end of the road in their provincial run. Regina managed to keep P.A. off the scoreboard while ending the game early, blanking the Royals 10-0 in five innings.
