Fourth trial set for Prince Albert murder case

Jul 27, 2023 | 1:00 PM

Four of the five men charged in the death of a Prince Albert man have now been committed for trial.

Raine Farrow’s preliminary inquiry hearing was held Wednesday at Prince Albert Provincial Court. Based on the evidence presented, the judge felt the Crown’s case was strong enough to commit the case for trial at Court of King’s Bench.

While initially charged with second-degree murder, Farrow is instead being tried on charges of manslaughter and accessory after the fact.

Trial dates won’t be set until a pre-trial hearing is held. The next scheduled round of these hearings at Court of King’s Bench is on Aug. 11 but it’s unlikely anything will be determined at that time.

Byron Bear was reported missing in December 2021 by his family and a serious assault was suspected at the time. People living in the area of Third Ave. and Ninth St. E. reported hearing gunshots.

Nearly two months later, Bear’s remains were found near Hague.

Riley Primeau, Daniel Oliver and Kyle Burns have previously had their charges committed for trial

The fifth and final person charged in the case, Jackson Henry, is back in court on Friday. His case is still in the preliminary stages.
