No injuries reported after house fire in RM of Buckland

Jul 26, 2023 | 10:15 AM

A house in a rural area northwest of Prince Albert has been destroyed by fire, but fortunately there are no reports of injuries.

On Tuesday, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Buckland Fire Rescue was called out for a structure fire. On arrival, the home was found to be fully involved with flames venting from the roof.

Crews immediately set up in a defensive operation to attack the fire and additional crews and equipment were requested to the scene.

Over 24,000 gallons of water was used to contain the fire and crews remained on scene until 8:30 p.m.

In a statement posted to their Facebook page, Buckland Fire and Rescue thanked their partners: the RCMP, Prince Albert Police traffic unit, SaskPower and SaskEnergy.

“A big thank you to our firefighters who were pushed to their maximum limits today in a long firefighting operation in extremely high temperatures and humidity. Your professional volunteer firefighters dig deep to protect the community during emergencies,” they said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
