The Prince Albert YWCA got a huge boost of support from Tim Horton’s thanks to this year’s Smile Cookie campaign.

The local non-profit was recently presented with a cheque for $34,427.88 from the proceeds of the campaign in May.

That number shattered last year’s total by about $10,000.

“We’re overwhelmed and grateful for our community,” said David Hambleton, Fund Development Officer at YWCA Prince Albert. “Our staff really came through to decorate cookies, and we’re thankful to them and the staff and owners at Tim Hortons for making the campaign a huge success. We hope everyone enjoyed their cookies!”

All the funds will be used by the YWCA Prince Albert to help homeless people and other vulnerable populations through their different programs and services.

This year Tim Horton’s said that a record $19.7 million total was raised through the sales of Smile Cookies which will support more than 600 in Canada and the United States.
