RCMP investigate suspicious death at Witchekan Lake First Nation

A man’s death on Saturday at Witchekan Lake First Nation, has been deemed by the RCMP to be suspicious in nature.

Just before 6 p.m., RCMP were notified that a 38-year-old man had been assaulted. When officers arrived on scene, the man was pronounced deceased.

The Saskatchewan Coroners Service and the North Battleford RCMP Forensic Identification Section were called to assist and investigate further.

An autopsy was scheduled to take place on Monday.

RCMP have also indicated that investigators continue to conduct witness interviews and gather information to develop a clear timeline of events and determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
