Live music, games and great food were used to support a great cause.

On Tuesday, Prince Albert’s YWCA, in partnership with Mr. Mike’s restaurant hosted a barbecue fundraiser. David Hambleton, Fund Development Officer for YWCA Prince Albert, told paNOW these events are incredibly important, and the money raised supports programs for vulnerable community members.

“There’s no strings attached so we can give support as it’s needed in the community and that is crucial for our organization,” he said.

Noting the long lines of people throughout the day, as well as the support from Mr. Mike’s and other businesses, Hambleton said it just goes to show how much heart is in Prince Albert.

“The city grows but so too does the number of vulnerable people and the number of people that are falling through the cracks or just needing some help,” he said.

The event is the fouth of its kind. Davinder Singh, general manager of Mr. Mike’s, said it’s always a great pleasure to host it.

“I have a special place for the YWCA in my heart because they do a lot of things for the community and a lot of programming and services. For as long as we are in the city, we will do one every year,” he said.

Throughout the month of July, YWCA Prince Albert is also selling raffle tickets. The winner of the draw on August 1, will receive a gift certificate for a two-night stay at Elk Ridge resort and a one-hour limo ride.

A maximum of 250 tickets will be sold.
