A 29-year-old man from Prince Albert is facing a number of serious charges after cocaine and meth were found inside a stolen truck involved in a crash.

Theron Owens was scheduled to appear Monday at Saskatoon Provincial Court.

On July 6, at approximately 4:15 p.m., Saskatoon Police advised Warman RCMP that a truck involved in a theft in the city of Saskatoon was traveling into their jurisdiction.

Two days prior, the truck had been reported as stolen in Prince Albert.

Officers from Martensville and Warman RCMP and Corman Park Police Service responded immediately and conducted proactive patrols along Highway 11 and 12, where the truck was last seen.

Roughly five minutes later, officers received multiple reports of a vehicle driving dangerously between Martensville and Warman. That was then followed by a report of a two-vehicle collision in Warman.

Upon arrival, officers positively identified one of the vehicles involved as the suspect truck.

Further investigation determined the driver of the truck also assaulted the driver of another vehicle, in an attempt to gain access to it. Officers intervened and the suspect was arrested without incident.

The driver of the other vehicle reported minor injuries, which were treated at the scene.

During the arrest and a subsequent search of the truck, officers located and seized 45 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 20 grams of cocaine.

In addition to drug trafficking, Owens has also been charged with two counts of assault, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, robbery, and failure to comply with a probation order.
