Raiders’ Goldsmith selected by Coyotes at NHL draft

The Prince Albert Raiders had a long streak of players selected in the NHL draft that ended last season. Now they’ve started a new one.

Raiders defenseman Terrell Goldsmith was taken in the fourth round, 102nd overall, by the Arizona Coyotes in Thursday’s draft. The 6-foot-4 blueliner posted three goals, including an overtime winner, and six assists during the season. He also got into five fights and threw numerous devastating body checks.

Goldsmith joins the ranks of elite Raider blueliners who’ve been selected in the draft, many of whom were his teammates. In his first two seasons with the team, including the COVID-shortened 2021 season, he played with both Kaiden Guhle and Nolan Allan, who were drafted in the first round of their respective NHL drafts.

The signs that Goldsmith was going to be drafted were there. He attended the NHL draft combine and interviewed with 11 teams during his time in Buffalo. He performed well in the physical testing as well, finishing in the top ten in several events.
