Heavy Rainfall & Hail

Clean-up continues on P.A.’s 15th Street after weekend storm

Several businesses in Prince Albert are still dealing with the aftermath of Sunday’s storm.

Areas across the city dealt with flooded streets and large-sized hail with properties on 15th Street arguably being hit the hardest.

At one time during the storm, Peavey Mart was surrounded by a couple of feet of water. The store told paNOW they had no damage inside; however, their parking lot was a mess with skids of soil actually being lifted off the ground.

There were a few vehicles on 15th Street in front of Peavey Mart that got stuck in three feet of water. According to P.A.’s Gateway North Towing, this was because they sped up instead of slowing down which created waves in the water that got sucked up under the hood and ruined the engine.

Gateway Mall was also hit hard by the flood waters.

Several businesses inside suffered damage including Urban Planet which remained closed on Monday to deal with the situation. SaskTel and Oh Pair! Shoes also suffered damage, but not enough to close their doors.

Places like the Real Canadian Superstore and Save-On-Foods saw sections of their parking lots underway.

Some places like Dr. Java’s Coffee House saw the water get close to their building, however, dodged any damage.
