Going Wild: Former Raider Kosior signs with AHL Iowa
Former Prince Albert Raiders defenceman Landon Kosior joined the AHL’s Iowa Wild at the end of the season on an Amateur Tryout contract in the hopes of turning it into a more permanent look with the team. It appears he made enough of an impression to do exactly that.
The Wild announced today they had signed Kosior to a one-year two-way AHL contract. The Regina native joined them at the end of the 2022-23 season and practiced with the team, though he has not yet played his first professional game.
During his time with the Raiders, Kosior went from an impressive young defensive prospect to a mainstay on the team, to the go-to guy on the blue line. He played 213 games with the Raiders over the course of four seasons after joining the team as an undrafted free agent.
In that time, Kosior attracted NHL attention, being named to the roster for the Los Angeles Kings development camp, and it was after the first visit to that development camp and the subsequent invitation to their main camp that Kosior exploded offensively. He posted 18 goals and 45 points in a full 68-game season, leading the Raiders defencemen in both categories.
