Summer in the city

Eager children ready for water park opening

It may be cloudy but it’s warm enough for eager swimmers at the Kinsmen Water Park.

Lauren Haubrich, recreation coordinator for aquatics for the City of Prince Albert said that die-hard swimmers are anxious to get in.

“We’ve had a couple of dedicated kids who came here right after school and they’ve been waiting eagerly for 4:00 o’clock, and then we are expecting a few more people to start rolling in here shortly,” she said with about three minutes on the clock to the start of the season this afternoon.

The hours of operation are the same as in other years, with public swimming going from 1:00 pm to 7:00 p.m. seven days per week and lane swimming in the mornings.

The cost is also affordable with $23.50 admitting two adults and up to four children.

The water park is a busy place all summer with over 44,000 people coming to the outdoor park over the summer.

Being able to swim while coming to the city for shopping is a big draw and families or lone swimmers come from all over.

All users are asked to remember the adult supervision policy that requires all children under eight to have an adult within arms reach at all times.

“We just want to make sure everyone is having a safe summer, so wearing your life jackets, supervising kids, anything you can do to stay safe is important to us,” said Haubrich.
