The fate of a 27-year-old man, charged with the murder of a 10 month old baby girl, now rests in the hands of a judge.

Robert Alexander Bear’s trial wrapped up this week at Court of King’s Bench in the Pas, Manitoba. A verdict was reserved to July 7.

On Aug. 11, 2020, Flin Flon RCMP received a report of an infant in medical distress in the Town of Flin Flon.

Officers attended along with EMS and located an unresponsive 10-month old female who was pronounced deceased.

In January 2021, RCMP received further information that indicated the injuries sustained by the 10-month old were not accidental and the matter was deemed to be a homicide.

Two months later, Bear was arrested at his home in Sandy Bay and transported to Manitoba, to answer to a charge of second degree murder.

Sources close to the incident have previously disclosed to paNOW the accused is the young girl’s step-father, and was babysitting her at the time.
