P.A. Legion donates funds to local cadets & STARS

May 12, 2023 | 8:00 AM

Prince Albert’s Legion is donating $4,500 to the local cadets.

They made the donations on Wednesday with $1,000 cheques being given to the Air Cadets, Sea Cadets, and Navy League Cadets. The Army Cadets received $1,500 as they’re the main sponsor of the Legion.

Branch President Rick Hodgson told paNOW they have a lot of pride in helping the cadets financially each year.

“We give them money every year to help them with the young kids, so they can do things during the summer and keep the kids active.”

All the funds donated were raised during the Legion’s annual poppy campaign.

Meanwhile, the Legion also donated $1,000 to STARS Air Ambulance.

Hodgson said it’s always hard choosing whom to donate to as there are many great causes and organizations, but it’s hard not to think of the critical work STARS does in the province.

“STARS is there for everybody, it’s a good cause.”

He added this funding was not part of the poppy campaign but rather the Legion’s general fund.
