P.A.’s Rose Garden Hospice holding last fundraiser for medical equipment

May 11, 2023 | 5:00 PM

A fundraiser is being held to help Prince Albert’s Rose Garden Hospice open in the very near future.

On May 12th, the non-profit will be taking part in a ‘radio day’ in hopes of getting funding to help purchase medical equipment such as beds, lifts, and slings.

Marina Mitchell, a hospice committee member, told paNOW this is the last hurdle the project needs to jump before crossing the finish line.

“The only thing we’re waiting for after the medical equipment is the interior doors. And once they arrive, we’ll be able to open.”

The doors will arrive sometime in July, so depending on how much is raised during the fundraiser, the hospice could very well open its doors in a couple of months.

Mitchell said they’d ultimately like to get $100,000, but will be happy with whatever the community can provide.

“Whatever we’re lucky enough to get will be wonderful.”

When finished, the hospice will feature 10 beds along with lounge areas and a kitchen for families to use. It will also have office spaces for executives and volunteers and a fully functioning staff room.

It will also feature a garage to accompany ambulances and hearses.

On-air announcers from 900 CKBI, BEACH Radio 101.5, and POWER 99 will be at the hospice from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. The fundraiser will finish at 5 p.m.

People can donate in person or online.

“We’re excited to have the community come by (Friday) and take a peek inside and see what they built,” said Mitchell.
