Test of SaskAlert system set for Wednesday
Be prepared for a shockingly loud noise during Emergency Preparedness Week.
On Wednesday at about 1:55 p.m., the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency will conduct a test of the SaskAlert system. Radios, TVs and most cellphones will emit a loud squawk as the system is tested.
“Regular testing of the system helps ensure that, in times of an emergency or disaster, urgent and lifesaving warnings can be distributed to the public by emergency management offices and other agencies, ministries and Crowns,” Corrections, Policing and Public Safety Minister Christine Tell said in a media release.
The agency noted not all mobile devices will get the test alert, since some devices aren’t compatible or the device’s software may not be up to date.
