Raiders’ Truitt, Canada advance to semis at World U18 Hockey Championship
Team Canada ran into a stumbling block in the quarter finals at last year’s World Under-18 Hockey Championship. This year, they bulldozed their way through it with authority, under the direction of Prince Albert Raiders head coach Jeff Truitt.
Truitt and the rest of Team Canada know they will have at least two more games in their tournament now, as they’re off to the semi-finals. They advanced to the next stage with a convincing, 7-3 win over the host Swiss.
Macklin Celebrini and Andrew Cristall scored twice each in the win, while Berkly Catton, Calum Ritchie, and Matthew Wood scored once apiece. Canada outshot the Swiss 33-31 in the win.
Canada now awaits the winner of Sweden and Latvia in the other quarter-final on their side. Sweden beat Canada 8-0 in their opening game of the tournament.
