Canadian Western Agribition (CWA) said the 2022 show had record setting revenue of $4.74 million, and a profit of $83,450.

CWA President Kim Hextall said this represents over a $400,000 turnaround from 2021 results.

“These numbers tell us we have returned to business as usual,” Hextall said. “The organization is in a strong cash financial position, which will help us build and focus on our vision and future events.”

There was a noticeable difference in all areas of the show including record breaking rodeo ticket sales and general admissions, and impressive cattle sale results.

CEO Shaun Kindopp said he is looking forward to keeping the momentum going.

“There are a number of exciting developments being added to the show and we already look forward to having our barns buzzing again,” Kindopp said.

New programs scheduled for 2023 include the return of Tuesday night entertainment, the inaugural Canadian Animal AgTech Awards, the introduction of the Miss Rodeo Agribition and a Golf Tournament on July 31.

Elections were held for the CWA board of directors. Hextall will stay on as president. Michael Latimer was elected vice president. Executive members at large include Kelsey Ashworth, Levi Jackson, and Blake MacMillan. The executive committee includes past president, Chris Lees.

Members of CWA elected to serve a two-year term are Kelly Howe, Courtney MacDougall, Blake MacMillan, Grant McLellan, and Karl Sauter. Directors serving the second year of their two-year term are Kelsey Ashworth, Levi Jackson, Marty Kratochvil, Garth Newell, Ali Pike, and Carol Poole.

CWA, located in Regina, is the largest livestock show in Canada that also features agriculture events, Indigenous culture, education, and live entertainment.

The 52nd edition of CWA will be held on Nov. 20 to 25.
