SaskPower is changing its calculations for seasonal customers.

Beginning May 1, the time-period used to calculate the minimum demand charge will be reduced from 11 months to six months.

Demand charges are issued to customers who use large amounts of power over a short period of time.

It will reset every May and November, so a customer’s peak months of power use are not part of the calculations for the minimum monthly billing charges applied during their off-season.

SaskPower said this change will benefit approximately 1,400 customer accounts, saving them an average of $1,140 per year.

Grain Growers of Canada (GGC) have hired Tyler Bjornson and Associates to provide interim leadership for the organization while it searches for a new executive director.

Erin Gowriluk, who led GGC for the past five years, moved into the role of president of the Canada Grains Council as of this week.

Gowriluk replaced Bjornson at the Grains Council.

GGC said a job posting and call for interested applications will be shared in the coming days.

Canadian chicken will be the official protein of Skate Canada.
