Carlton principal leaving school for leadership role with Sask Rivers

Carlton Comprehensive High School in Prince Albert, the largest high school in the province, will soon have a new principal.

Jeff Court, who’s led the school for the past five years, will officially be leaving his position to become the next Superintendent of Schools for the Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division starting in August.

He told paNOW this move is bittersweet.

“I’ve super enjoyed my time as the principal of Carlton, and this is sort of the next step in my professional life.”

Court has been working within Sask Rivers since 2005. This included a previous time at Carlton where he was a teacher and vice-principal.

Despite his second stint with the school being quite tricky, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Court said he’ll still remember it fondly.

“Getting to know the kids and the families… I absolutely and thoroughly enjoyed my time at Carlton.”

He explained he doesn’t know too much about what exactly his responsibilities will be for Sask Rivers as he just found out he got the position earlier in the week. He also couldn’t say what the process will be like to find his successor.

Moving forward, Court joked that despite not working there, he’ll still find excuses to go back from time to time to see everyone.

“My oldest son attends school there and I’ll be actively involved in supporting the Crusaders in a variety of different things they got going on.”
