New banners beautify 2nd Avenue in P.A.

If you’ve taken a drive down 2nd Avenue in Prince Albert recently, you may have noticed something new on the light stands.

Last weekend, the city installed six new steel banners on the east and west sides of the southern entrance to the city.

“These banners exemplify just some of the broad range of artistic talent in our City. Each design celebrates a unique and important part of our city – from our riverbank and natural surroundings to our diversity,” said Judy MacLeod Campbell, Arts & Cultural Coordinator. “The new banners add vibrancy, beauty, and a sense of place.”

The designs were submitted by local artists and selected by a panel of community members. Three artists, Ailah Carpenter, Colby Lavigne, and Kayanna Wirtz, were chosen.

This project was an initiative of The City of Prince Albert Municipal Cultural Action Plan (MCAP) with help from the Public Art Working Group and Community Building Youth Futures – Prince Albert.
