B.C. flying app hopes to take off in northern Saskatchewan

Northern outfitters and charter flight services could soon have another avenue for their business thanks to a new app.

That app is called Airble, a B.C.-based company providing passengers with options to fly to remote locations through private carriers.

As Kevin Adlparvar, director of Product and Business Development with the company, explains the CEO is an experienced pilot and was looking for ways to explore his home province of B.C.

“He couldn’t find any easy ways to get to remote locations or a centralized place to find air tours,” said Adlparvar.

That’s where the idea for Airble, which works like an Uber system for private planes came about.

Now, the trick is to find the operators and help them get on board with the service.

“We’ve been going through one by one, calling each one, sending over a proposal,” he said. “We are certainly going after other air operators in Saskatchewan.”

Right, now there are many operators in the province who have signed up but few are in the north. Northern airports currently on Airble’s map include Prince Albert, Birch Hills, Buffalo Narrows, Meadow Lake and Barber Field near La Ronge.

Adlparvar is hopeful more operators will sign up, as it will help boost tourism in these areas.

“Let’s help support local tourism as well as these mom-and-pop shops,” he said. “We’re trying to make transportation a little bit more accessible. There’s no centralized ledger system, there’s no centralized marketplace where their services and offerings can be found and that’s what we’re trying to do.”
