PAMBA receives grant to further development of Kinsmen Baseball Complex

With the baseball season right around the corner, players and coaches alike are eager to hit the field and get back at it. But this season, athletes will soon have more places to play and practice.

Thanks to a grant from the Grey Cup Festival Legacy Program, the Prince Albert Minor Baseball Association (PAMBA) received $10,000 to help complete the development of the Kinsmen Baseball Complex at Crescent Acres Park.

President of PAMBA Duane Krip told paNOW just what the money will be going to.

“The money was specifically earmarked for Crescent Acres and specifically to go towards the batting cages there,” he said. “We’re really appreciative, it’s going to be a huge boost in getting that specific part of the complex complete.”

The project got underway around a year ago to redevelop the three softball diamonds in the park into three baseball diamonds, one for 15U and two for 13U.

According to Krip, significant work has been ongoing since the project began with the biggest change coming to diamond two, Lypchuk Field, where they moved the fences back and reconstructed the infield.

“All that work was completed in the fall,” he said. “So come spring, which is hopefully in a couple of weeks when the snow goes, our 15U division will be playing their first game on the new facility at Lypchuk Field.”

The new ball season is set to get underway on May 1.
